If you are a die-hard fan of space and want to explore the latest news, then I must say that this article will be suitable for you. We, as human beings, always look up at the sky and wonder What lies beyond our planet? Or how the universe came to be? Ah! The groundbreaking space discoveries have been made by humanity in the past decades. The world’s space agencies like NASA and other groups progressively explore our solar system and beyond and show us many new space discoveries.
So buckle up readers! because my guide will fascinate space enthusiasts about current celestial secret discoveries and the future missions of these agencies. So Let’s catch up on all the excitement you might have missed.
New Space Discoveries of the James Webb Space Telescope
About 1000 light years away from Earth, there is a star cluster known as IC 348. Recently, the James Webb Space Telescope observed this place and found three brown objects named Brown Dwarfs. One of them is more massive than Jupiter but smaller than a star. These brown Dwarfs are also called failed stars. Because they are not high enough to sustain the type of nuclear fusion that powers typical stars.
Wait a minute, not only this but Webb also found the signature of unidentified hydrocarbons in the atmosphere of the other two dwarfs. It is the first time that these hydrocarbons were discovered on a thing outside our solar system. Yes, you heard it right for the very first time!
What comes after James Webb?
Although the Webb is incredibly performing way better than expected, astronomers have already got their ambitious plans and are thinking about NASA’s planet-hunting telescope. Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is the next big telescope, expected to launch in 2027.
NASA’s Cassini Mission On Saturn
The next discovery is kind of sad. As you know the stunning rings around Saturn make it fancy, well guess what? They might have disappeared in the not-so-far future, said astronomers. The Cassini Mission by NASA is to explore Saturn from 2004-2017 in which they gathered crucial information about the rings. Finally, in the grand finale of the mission, scientists noticed something surprising. The rings were losing a lot of mass, which is made of ice and some sprinkles of rocks, every second. This means that this Magnificent halo will only stick for a few hundred million more years or you can say in a universal tone it’s just a blink of an eye. This discovery got scientists all excited because it means that something dramatic happened on Saturn. Let’s all hope they’ll figure it out.
Coming Up Next
NASA will look forward to exploring more about Saturn’s largest moon, Titan, after the explosion of Cassini. The upcoming mission will take place with NASA’s Dragonfly which is a helicopter drone. This would explore a variety of Tian’s locations for available habitability.
Exploring the Space with Hubble Telescope
The enormously powerful bursts of energy have been seen by the radio astronomers that step out all over the sky. The astronomers of NASA have found a weird home in the oddball place. Do you know what it is? It’s called Fast Radio Burst (FRB). The astronomers used the Hubble Telescope to find a rare home of it. Although hundreds of FRBs have been detected, this one is something different because it ejected halfway across the galaxy. This is considered the farthest and the most powerful example disclosed to date.
The Hubble telescope just stumped upon a super rare black hole that’s been hiding in our cosmic backyard. It’s located about 6,000 light-years away in the heart of the globular star cluster. The black hole, also known as Messier 4(M4), is not an ordinary hole, it’s an intermediate-mass black hole candidate. That means it’s a crazy dense region of space filled with a mass of almost 800 suns.
When Will It Return To Earth?
The answer is NO! The telescope is not supposed to re-enter the atmosphere of Earth until 2030. Due to atmospheric drag, the altitude of the satellite is slowly decreasing. Are astronomers planning anything for future services? No, there are no human or robotic servicing capabilities planned for Hubble.
3 Strangest Planets That Were Never Supposed To Exist, But They Do
- There is a planet, named KOI 55b or Kepler 70b, that is strange because it didn’t just revolve around its star but lived inside it. This planet is 4000 light-years far away from ours and one more interesting fact! It is an ordinary Earth-like planet but twice as light as Earth. It is one of the hottest planets NASA has discovered, the temperature on it reaches 12,000 degrees F and is hotter than the sun.
- There is a gas giant called TRES 2B which is located 750 light years away from us. So what’s so special about it? Well! It’s the planet of Eternal Night. But it’s not far away from its star, so why is it that much dark? It reflects light even worse than coal does. Oh wait there is a deep red glow surrounding the surface! It is created by the burning atmosphere which makes the planet even hotter than lava. Ooo! Scary.
- It has a long name so bear with me, HD 189733b. This gas giant is 65 lightyears away from Earth. At first glance, it may seem like a friendly blue color and curls on the surface. But don’t get fooled by the appearance, it is because of the atmosphere which contains silicates that condense when heated. So in other words the planet has glass rain. Yes, you read it right! It rains hot glass. Wait, it’s not enough here, there is a raging wind on the surface which is moving with a speed of 5400 mph( Earth had the fastest wind with a speed of 254 mph).
Expected Mission
ESA, an agency of space exploration, will conduct an Aerial mission. This mission is expected to be placed at Lagrange point L2. The mission is to study more about exoplanets and discover thousands of new exoplanets. The expected launch date is 2029.
The End
As we stand in the new era of space exploration, these new space descoveries have propelled us into the latest technological advancements. We are eagerly waiting for future missions that will definitely reshape our perceptions of the cosmos and often bring us closer to nature.
